House rules
SDEQUST is a private map for a small group of friends. By having an account you agree to the following.
Be decent
- Only upload photos and put places on maps that you're allowed to share. Nothing illegal, nothing that targets or exposes another person (no home addresses or photos of people who haven't agreed).
- Don't try to get into other people's maps, other accounts, or the server itself.
- The admin can switch off or remove an account that breaks these rules.
What's stored about you
- Your username, display name, profile picture and a scrambled (hashed) copy of your password. No email address or phone number.
- Your maps, spots, notes, ratings, routes and photos, and when you mark spots done.
- Photos are shrunk and their hidden details (including GPS location) are removed when you upload them.
Who can see it
- Your maps are private. Another person sees a map only if its owner shares it with them, and only after you're friends.
- On a shared map, everyone on it sees its spots and photos. Your done ticks, ratings and notes stay yours.
- Friends can see your username, display name and profile picture.
- The admin can see account names and how much storage each account uses, and can reset passwords. The admin page doesn't show your maps or photos, but the person running the server could still get at the files, so don't store anything you'd be upset by them seeing.
Limits
- Each account can use up to a fixed amount of storage for photos. When it's full, new uploads are refused until you delete some.
- This is a hobby project run by one person. It can break or be switched off. Download a backup of anything you care about.
Leaving
- You can ask the admin to delete your account. That removes your maps (or hands a shared map to a collaborator) and your photos.
